Quranic Sciences covers not only a detailed survey of the sciences of the book (‘Ulum al-Quran), but also a deeper practical study of Recitation (Tajwid) and Exegesis (Tafsir). ‘Ulum al-Quran includes topics about the nature of the Quran and its contents, revelation, occasions of revelation, miracles, names, types of verses, abrogation, transmission and preservation, division, language and style, recitation, modes of recitation, and exegesis. The Quran is the only book with a practical science developed just to read it i.e.tajwid. Students learn this science not only as detailed linguistic theory, but more importantly through application of rules via regular recital and memorization of portions of the book under the direct supervision of experts. Additionally, care is taken to go through the entire Quran with regard to its apparent meanings as well as the implications, reflections and nuances discussed by classical and modern Exegetes.
