Didmar Faja was born on 30 October 1980 in the city of Shkodër, Albania. There he completed his Islamic elementary and middle school Haxhi Sheh Shamia. Later on, he went to study in Istanbul, Turkey, where he completed his high school of Imam and lecturer (khaṭīb). He moved from Istanbul to the USA in 1999, where he earned the bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies.
Imam Didmar is the Imam of the United Islamic Center of Arizona, opened in 2014. He preaches the traditional Islam according to the four schools of thought (in particularly the Hanafi school), the creed of Ahl Sunnah wa al-Jama’a and the spiritual teachings of Islam.
Since its opening in 2004 until 2014, he was the imam of the Albanian American Islamic Center of Arizona – Greenway Masjid. Imam is a member of the American Imams Federation, founder and the organizer of the Quran competition for the state of Arizona, a member of the Arizona Police Reports, founder and director of “Greenway Academy “, which opened in 2009.
Imam is also a religious and spiritual adviser of the Naqshbandiyya Foundation for Islamic Education. He holds monthly speeches with the members of this organization where he focuses on the spiritual subjects with a reference to the famous book of imam al-Qushariy, Al-Risālat al-Qushayriyyat.
He is the author of the book Express the Gifts of God, which contains a collection of lectures in Albanian, delivered by him in Greenway Masjid. Currently he is working on the commentary of the 40 Hadith of Imam al-Nawawi in the Albanian language.
Qur’an recitation is one of his passions. He has trained many students in reciting the Quran according to the rules of correct expression (tajwīd ) and according to the melodies (maqāmāt). Imam Didmar is a lecturer in different events and conferences in U.S.A. and abroad. He also organizes and attends many interfaith activities. Besides Albanian, speaks English, Arabic and Turkish.
The Madina Institute is honored to have Shaykh Didmar as instructor in Hanafi Usul al-Fiqh.
